ANDREA LEONARD, M.S., CCCSLP, M. Ed.
A SpeechLanguage Pathologist and Special Education Administrator with 25+ Years of Experience
I’m Andrea Leonard, a speech language pathologist and former special education administrator with more than two decades of experience supporting children, families, and school teams. My work is grounded in a simple belief: every child deserves to be understood, supported, and given the tools to thrive — academically, socially, and emotionally.
I bring a dual perspective to my practice: deep clinical expertise in communication development and extensive experience navigating school systems, evaluations, and special education processes. This combination allows me to support families with clarity, confidence, and a strong understanding of what truly helps children make progress.
Credentials & Certifications
-
I began my career as a speech language pathologist in the public schools, where I provided therapy, conducted evaluations, and collaborated closely with teachers and families. Over time, I moved into leadership roles, serving as a Special Education Administrator for the Special School District of St. Louis County.
These experiences shaped the way I practice today — with a focus on evidence based intervention, clear communication, and family centered support.
After retiring from public schools, I founded The Chat Lab LLC to provide individualized therapy and advocacy services that honor each child’s strengths and each family’s goals.

My Approach
Families often tell me they appreciate how calm, clear, and collaborative the process feels. I work to create an environment where children feel supported, parents feel informed, and progress feels achievable.
My approach is:
Evidence based — grounded in research and best practice
Individualized — tailored to each child’s needs and learning style
Family centered — built around your priorities and questions
School aligned — informed by years of experience inside the education system
Whether I’m providing therapy, completing an evaluation, or supporting a family through the IEP process, my goal is always the same: to help children communicate with confidence and to help families feel empowered.
Why I Started The Chat Lab
After years of working in public schools, I saw how much families benefit from clear guidance, consistent support, and a provider who understands both clinical needs and the realities of school based services.
I created The Chat Lab to offer:
High quality speech and language therapy
Comprehensive, accurate evaluations
Thoughtful, informed IEP advocacy
A space where families feel heard and supported
This practice reflects the work I care deeply about — helping children grow and helping families navigate the journey with clarity and confidence.
A Note to Families
Choosing a provider is personal. You want someone who understands your child, communicates clearly, and partners with you every step of the way. My commitment is to offer that level of care — grounded in experience, guided by evidence, and centered on your child’s progress.
